Torgin's Guide

To the Disarming Skill

Skill Name: Disarming

Entry Last Update: 04/23/2001

Description: Disarming is the ability to dislodge a weapon from an opponent's hands while in melee combat.

Who Can Learn It: Anyone can learn Disarming.

What It is Supposed to Do: Allow you to knock a weapon out of an opponent's hands.

What it Does: Allows you to knock a weapon out of an opponent's hands and onto the ground. There, either you, said opponent, or someone else can pick it up. Disarming appears to be fully implemented.

Activation: DISARM (DISARM [Target]).

Usefulness (Low Levels): Moderate. It will take a few tries, but you can knock the weapon out of an opponent's hand if they are of equal or lesser melee skill to yourself.

Usefulness (Mid-Levels): Moderate. You can usually knock the weapon out of an opponent's hand that is of melee skill equal to your own.

Usefulness (High Levels): Moderate. No weapon is safe when you are around!

How to Practice: Find an opponent that gives you roughly 2 skill uses per disarm and start disarming them. For this to work, the opponent must have a weapon. For best results, find two opponents and alternate disarming them; that way, you won't have to wait for the person you just disarmed to pick up and re-ready there weapon, as you'll already have another target for your disarming.

Tips: The better you are with your readied weapon, the better you will be at Disarming. It is unknown whether this has to do your weapon skill level, your OR value, or a combination of both.

Unconfirmed Rumors (May or May Not Be True): Using a two-handed weapon may make it easier to disarm an opponent. An opponent with a two-handed weapon may be harder to disarm. Bows appear to be the easiest weapon of all to disarm.
